as we may think

after finding out that the article was written in 1945, my perspective of reading Bush's article has changed dramatically.
It is unbelievable how his track of thoughts for the future was right.
Especially on the last page, where he talks about 'memex' really interested me.
I believe that the first computer was made in somewhere in the early 1940s but the tech. was not advanced enough for Bush to think the way he he mentioned in the article.
" memex is a device in which an individual stores all his books, records, and communications, and which is mechanized so that it may be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility. It is an enlarged intimate supplement to his memory."
his idea of mechanical storage as well as networking may have brought the current status of technology.
His advanced thoughts and ideas are what we need even in this 21st century.
However, his way of grouping people into a mankind or 'him' really disturbed me. I understand that back in those days, men were superior than women but ignoring individuals and grouping everying into a 'him' , I don't think it was as brilliant as his opinion about the technologies.
